Sound Installation at CLB Berlin
by Eiji John Infante Mitsuta
Music Without a Performer
This project marks the beginning of what I consider to be "an experience of the essence of music."
Tiny bells resonate within balloons, each gently brought to life, becoming musical entities in a multi-sensory work.
Sound itself is free from objectivity. It is through our consciousness that sound transforms into music. The listener becomes the performer, shaping sound into something more.
This exhibition is an extension of composition - an invitation to explore the personal act of sound and listening.
Public Exhibition Hours
Dates - December 7 2024 - January 5 2024
Digital Experience
As the bells inside the balloons resonate, four pieces of music are played from the four installed speakers. The corresponding musical score for the main theme, Sheep, is exhibited on the walls.
- Please enjoy by playing the four tracks simultaneously while watching the balloon video (with bell sounds) below -
Opening Reception
Date - December 6 2024
The opening reception featured a live listening session with cellists Norma Regis and Gago Makichian. The cello was a live element of the sound installation, contributing to the overall experience rather than a traditional performance.
In keeping with Japanese tradition, visitors were invited to remove their shoes upon entry and were served Japanese sake with gold flakes, which evoke the bells in the balloons.
